When Life Gives you Pink Eye…

I cant officially tell if I have pink eye or not but its a possibility.  I woke up this morning (TMI) with crap all over my right eye and it was pink-ish.  No light sensitivity or the other symptoms that would indicate the super contagious version just the semi contagious version (only if you touch your other eye).  To be on the safe side I am wearing my glasses today.  Sooo not looking forward to running in my glasses.

20150822_064736Look the sky is pink today too!  I got to the track at about 5:45am and no one was there.  It was really nice.  My goal was to do 12 sets of 800’s today.  I mixed it up a little and did the following:

  1. 800 (2 laps around the track)
  2. 1600 (4 laps around the track) marking the time for the 800 split.  Since I was by myself this was a little difficult.  I had to remember the time I finished my first split and then do math to figure out the second split plus do the right amount of laps.  It got a little confusing but I was just using my watch.  Im sure there are apps you can use to figure this stuff out but I thought my husband was going to help this morning 😛
  3. 800
  4. 1600 w/split
  5. 800
  6. 1600 w/split
  7. 800
  8. 800
  9. 800
  10. cool down lap

Each set of 800’s were between 4:47-5:05 averaging a little less than a 10 minute mile.  I keep thinking to myself this is really slow but then remember that when temps + humidity get over a certain point you just dont go as fast (more info here).  This is really encouraging since the average 10min/mile is faster for me than previous times.  I can only get faster during the fall and Im looking forward to that.

20150822_072218After the sun started coming up, such a nice sunrise today.  Running the track today was better then previous sessions.  The times definitely were not my best but I did all the laps I planned on at times that I wasn’t too disappointed with.  I think I get a little overwhelmed with all these fast runners making PRs everywhere I have to stop and remember I am doing well for me and its not fair to compare myself to elite runners.  I dont devote my life to the sport so Im not going to see the same results nearly as fast or at all.  Perspective (this always makes me think of Ratatouille…Disney’s in my blood yall!)

20150822_072226You guys running in glasses SUCKS!!!  Those of you out there that do I salute you.  Granted mine arent expensive or anything just for night time but they kept slipping down my face and fogging up.  I dont know if you can tell in that picture but half of the right side is all fogged up.  SUCKED!  So many times I just wanted to say “F This” and go home and go back to bed, but thats not what winners do dang it and IM A WINNER 🙂  Ok, honesty I didnt want to write another post about how I didnt finish my track workout so THANK YOU for keeping me accountable today.

20150822_072746You can always tell when I ran the track, the bottoms of my shoes get all red.  Now time to shower and get ready for the day 🙂

CHIME IN!!!  Have you ever had pinkeye, what should I do!!!  Or, what are you doing this weekend?

  1. I don’t have any insight on pick eye, but wanted to drop a message saying that even though you didn’t run as quickly as you might have wanted, you’re still out there running and lapping everyone sitting on the couch. Keep it up!!

NOOOO, how awful. I haven’t had pink eye in YEARS, but you’ll definitely want to avoid touching it and try to keep it clean. If it lasts for more than a few days you may need to get some medicine to flush it out. Not sure though, I’m a “hang in there and wait for it to pass” kind of girl. HA.
