Before we talk clothes (one of my favorite things to talk about!) I went to dinner last night with my mom and Geri for my birthday and wanted to share a little review!
For those of you who live in the Spring/Woodlands area there is a new restaurant called Fielding’s Local. I love their original place Fieldings (ummm creme brulee french toast, best thing ever) and thought the new concept sounded fun. They have locally sourced ingredients and a fresh menu. Based on what we saw yesterday the menu will most likely change seasonally as there was plenty of apple/squash/fall type things on the menu. I didnt take any pictures because I was all frazzled from the traffic (I dont know why it gets to me so much but hey it does) but everything was great. First off I love the ambiance of the place, its cool and hip but not trying too hard. Our server was super friendly oh and that patio area is amazing. We didnt sit outside it was already full but it was fantastic.
Mom and Geri started with the Salumi Pizza (is salumi a fancy way to spell salami???) it had pesto, fennel and some other things that didnt look too appetizing to me but they enjoyed it. I had some of the crust and it was a solid non-pizza place crust. I wouldnt go here specifically for pizza but it was a good starter.
For dinner we all got something different and shared. I had the pappardelle with 7 spice short rib, shiitake mushrooms, fried egg (but i asked for that to be taken out) and parsley leaves. I didnt love this the pappardelle was undercooked, the sauce had way too much pepper and the parsley was overpowering (I had to take it off). Mom got the gnocchi with veal essence, fresh peas, white onion puree and dill sprigs. This was actually pretty interesting, you could tell the gnocchi was homemade, the puree was interesting and the veal essence (brown sauce) was really good. The flavor combos here worked really well together, Im sad I didnt get this too. Geri got ricotta ravioli with lemon butter, shaved fennel and toasted pistachios. This one was weird and delicious at the same time. The lemon butter made you feel like you were eating a delicious seafood dish but it was just ricotta. I think this would be 1000 times better if it had lobster or crab in the ravioli but it was still good as is. The restaurant just opened last month so Im sure they will be making changes as time goes on.
Now for dessert!!!! I tried the tarte tatin which was an upside down apple tarte with creme fraiche and caramel sea salt gelato. This was good but the tarte tasted burnt. The gelato was fantastic though. Geri got the ivory bread pudding with white chocolate, hazelnut brittle and raspberry granite. This dessert was on point but Geri said the hazlenut brittle was not very good (I didnt try it).
Overall we had a great time, great conversations and a delicious meal. I will definitely be going back to try more of the menu, and BRUNCH!!!! If you are in the area I highly suggest you check it out.
Now that I made you especially hungry right at lunch time (your welcome) how about some clothes?
