After some tough treadmill sessions last week its a recovery week! I do have a tough looking run on Tuesday but the rest are “normal”. Working on getting my butt back into the gym. Lets see how it all went.
Tuesday: Tempo run day! Its been a while since I’ve done tempos for this long. My legs felt fine but with humidity was causing me some breathing issues. Warm-up with 15 minutes easy running (3×20 second tempo picks ups through out) then 4×4 minute tempos with 1 minute rests between each then 15 minutes cool down. My tempos ended up being around 8:59 the goal was 8:56 so not too far off. I think next time I need to remember to plan the time workouts into my watch so I don’t have to keep checking it all the time, that can get annoying. It was so hot today I used some ice to try and cool my face down, hello beginning of summer weather 😛 15 minutes stretching / foam rolling / yoga poses that night.
Wednesday: Rest day, because the schedule said so. I was going to go to core but I was so sore from Monday…yeah I know its a problem. When I got home I took some photos for a post I have coming up, here is a blooper from that! Silly dogs, oh and he almost peed on the camera…dogs, am i right 😉
Thursday: 3.75 miles today with an average pace of 10:30. The goal today was to gradually build the heart-rate and I did just that. With the humidity making its wicked comeback its not hard to get the heartrate revved. It did take about a mile to get the legs all nice and shook-out from Tuesday’s tempo run but they made it through just fine. So happy I’m running pain free right now! This is my “sup” pose…clearly it needs some work 😛 15 minutes foam rolling / stretching / yoga poses that night.
Friday: Took the puppies on my recovery run today. Finished with 2.88 miles at 12:10 pace…yeah slow I know but I was trying to keep my heart-rate in zone 1 (under 145) and the humidity was fighting me tooth and nail. The puppies sure were happy though, they haven’t been on a run in a while so they were all smiles! 15 minutes stretching / foam rolling / yoga poses that night.
Saturday: Rest day. I have an early morning flight to Orlando and the rest of the day was spent walking around ***DISNEY***. So not really a rest day, but a rest day 😉 I think I ended the day with 5 ish miles, and a ghost that followed me home!
Sunday: My long run from Saturday was pushed back today…but I didn’t do it. I was so tired from the long day yesterday and not eating the best so I opted to sleep some more instead of getting up early. I ended up walking a little more than 9 miles yesterday so I think that more than made up for the 6 miles I was supposed to run. I saw all of the Flower and Garden festival with a post on that coming soon!!!
Monday: My Sunday recovery run was moved to today…you know how pushing things back goes. 4 miles at a 11:00 pace on the treadmill. I was pleasantly surprised how fresh my legs felt after 2 days of lots of heat and walking. I also was not bored out of my skull for those 44 minutes…thank you Glee 🙂 I may have missed yesterdays run but I got it done today! Also thank goodness for no one in the hotel gym I like to workout alone and then take silly mirror selfies with no judgement thank you very much! 10 minutes stretching / yoga poses that night plus 10 push ups
CHIME IN!!! What area are you focusing on right now? What is the earliest you will get up for a training run? How did your workouts go this week?
In July and August I get up at 5 am so I can run around 6. I’ve considered getting up earlier a couple of times. I do my very best to avoid the sun and humidity during the summer months. 😆

Right?! I know waking up earlier than 5 would be terrible, but sometime I think it just may be worth it! Haha I’ve yet to do it though. 😉
